The name, Dial Corner’ has been adopted as both an eponym and metaphor;
‘The Dial Stone’ is a commemorative pillar recognising Norfolk’s first Turnpike and is located a few metres from the paddock, the proposed development site. The proposed development has adopted the name ‘Dial Corner’, in recognition of its location adjacent to the Dial erected to commemorate the gift made by Sir Edwin Richinson that enabled this stretch of road to be improved. It was Norfolk’s first turnpike road. While the paddock is on the corner of London Road and the A11 slip road, its location also provides a metaphor for a ‘turning point’ in Robert and Belinda Ashton’s lives, “turning a corner “in transitioning towards a fossil-fuel- free lifestyle.‘DIAL CORNER’ PLANNING STATEMENT 21st DECEMBER 2021
